instinct and reason assisted the Australia’s National Coalition for Suicide Prevention in creating a National Research Plan for Suicide Prevention.

The World Health Organisation has asked its 192 member countries to commit to a target of reducing the number of suicides by 10%. Japan has committed to 20%. Australia has committed to a 50% reduction!

Paul is assisting Suicide Prevention Australia with a 15-month long engagement process among key stakeholders – researchers, service providers, policymakers, funders, and people with lived experience of suicide – to develop a robust plan that has collective commitment and the practical propositions to halve the number of suicides and suicide attempts within 10 years.

In July, Paul presented the instinct and reason research for beyondblue’s Heads Up campaign to transform workplace mental health at the National Suicide Prevention Conference in Perth (survey of 606 employers/business leaders and survey of 1024 employees).
